All therapies include a full confidential consultation. This is an important part of the therapy and usually takes around 15 minutes. The aim of the consultation is to establish the client’s objectives, medical history and lifestyle to enable the therapist to treat the client holistically. Occasionally, certain medical conditions may prevent a massage taking place and consent may be required from your GP or Consultant.
To ensure continued benefits from your therapy, it is important to follow the advice given below for 24 hours:
- Allow yourself time to sit down and relax for 10 minutes following your therapy before driving home.
- Drink plenty of water / herbal teas as this will help to flush out toxins and also reduce muscle soreness and fatigue.
- Try to rest and relax as much as you can following a treatment to allow the body to heal itself sufficiently.
- Avoid showering / bathing for 24 hours to allow the absorption of any essential oils used.
- Avoid the sun / sunbeds as some essential oils may leave the skin more sensitive to UV rays.
- Avoid caffeine, alcohol and smoking as they cause dehydration and will reintroduce toxins back in to the body.
- Eat small meals including fruit and vegetables, as large meals will divert energy away from the healing process.
